Taking a Pause: I'll be back <3
How to stay in integrity while scaling a business: A Monologue
Hey you!
I hope you're doing well and enjoying your Sunday :)
I'm currently on a flight to LA where I'll be connecting over to another flight that will be taking me to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where I will then decide if I want to pay $2 for a bus or $100 for a taxi for my 1 hour ride to Sayulita.
I'll probably opt for the public transport so wish me and my "un poco" Spanish skills well lol.
I just wanted to reach out because either you have been one of the 50% open rate of my free newsletter community.
OR you’ve been a local paid Substack subscriber for some months.
And I wanted to notify you of the "pause" I'm taking.
But first - I wanted to thank you.
Thank you for seeing me, supporting me, and feeling the value of what I'm creating enough to pay for it, subscribe to it, and read it weekly.
It's the people like YOU I aim to serve.
And yet - the really cool thing about owning your own business is - it's all up to you. And also - the really challenging thing about business is - it's all up to you.
And in respect to that and YOU - I've decided to pause my Substack subscriptions because I have decided to pause my newsletter.
This means, if you’re a paid subscriber, you will not be charged until the pause is lifted.
Since going full time in my business, I have learned more in 3 months than 10 years combined at any other role.
I've learned what it looks like to stand in integrity, serve clients beyond just creating content, and where to take a step back and CREATE the bigger picture.
And this is that step back :)
This week while I'm at a creator retreat, meeting with other businesses and creators that have impacted over 100k people through their content and work - I'll be tasking myself with the time to sit and get clear on what I want to create.
The truth is - I've never been a "social media manager"
And I'm still not.
I've always seen my work as something so much bigger.
My clients can attest, we aren't just writing their stories and posting on Facebook, we are overcoming the challenges that restrict us from being visible in the first place.
We overcome the fears of being seen exactly as we are.
And I believe half of my role is to show people that who they are now is PERFECTLY acceptable and more so, celebrated.
Through likes, comments, DMs, podcast interview invites, speaking opportunities, inbound work requests - they see that time after time.
I joke that I'm half mindset coach, half storyteller, and half Facebook expert.
But not the kind that does ads lol.
The kind that reflects all of the magic in you and sprinkles some social media strategy and creative writing into it.
Because I desire to change the world in such radical ways.
I believe shame is the keeper of greatness and our fear of social media is an exemplar of that.
I remember crying on my floor in my Arizona apartment dreaming of the day I could be honest about my challenges with cheating, having no idea how to be in a relationship, and being a total victim to life itself.
Sharing my stories and life on social media not only grew me a business. It also liberated me from the shame.
We as people are so afraid of being different and burdening others that we sacrifice our ability to be a trailblazer, a thought leader, someone who goes against the grain.
And that's what I desire to be.
And in honor of that - I am pausing my Substack newsletters to create a vision and an impact far more connected that weekly post challenges and newsletters.
Although I'm sure they will come back to some capacity.
I want my readers to feel even more entertained and educated, have even more actionable resources and clear takeaways, and perhaps even have more access to me, with more community as well.
Something that will create trailblazers, taking industry norms and smashing them on their head, and flipping the middle finger to the hate comments and criquers.
(mind me I just watched the Bob Dylan documentary and I'm inspired lol)
But until I have more clarity on what I want that vision to be - I do not want to collect funds until I feel the value is 10x the cost.
So while that vision is underway - I'll be back soon <3
Xoxo
Kate
In the meantime - I will be most active on Instagram and Facebook stories where I will continue to share my journey of using social media as self expression, how I’m attracting tons of in bound opportunities through my content (like a free 2 week stay in Costa Rica), and everything I’m learning about life, relationships, and myself.
And if you’re feeling the call to step more into my world and work with me during this shift - you can apply to do so here.
Until then - Sending you SO MUCH LOVE!!!
